Prinance Privacy Policy

Prinance (“the app”) is developed by Dario Kolic (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Prinance. The short version: Prinance was built to need no account and no server, so there is almost nothing for us to collect — your financial data never leaves your device.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
Prinance requires no account, no sign-up, and no login. We do not operate a backend server for the app’s core functionality, and we do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We have no ability to see your income, expenses, categories, or receipt photos — they are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is created and stored only on your device, using local on-device storage (AsyncStorage) and the app’s private sandboxed file storage:
Income and expense entries you log, including amounts, dates, and categories
Custom categories you create (name, icon, color)
Receipt or bank-statement photos you attach to an expense
App settings, such as your chosen currency and app-lock preference
This data is never uploaded, synced, or backed up by us. If you delete the app, this data is permanently deleted along with it. There is no cloud backup built into Prinance — if you want a backup, it is up to you (for example, via your phone’s own backup system).
3. Camera and Photo Library
If you choose to attach a photo to an expense, Prinance may ask for access to your Camera or Photo Library. Any photo you capture or select is copied into the app’s own private storage on your device and is never uploaded anywhere. We do not access your camera or photo library for any other purpose.
4. App Lock (Face ID / Touch ID / Fingerprint / Device Passcode)
If you enable App Lock, Prinance asks your device’s operating system (via Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, or your device passcode) to confirm it’s you before showing the app’s contents. This authentication is handled entirely by iOS or Android — Prinance never receives, processes, or stores any biometric data itself. We only receive a yes/no result from the operating system.
5. Prinance Pro (In-App Purchase)
Prinance Pro is an optional, one-time in-app purchase that unlocks Insights, Trends, and custom categories. Purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and through RevenueCat, a subscription/purchase management service.
When you purchase or restore Prinance Pro:
RevenueCat receives an anonymous, app-generated user ID and your purchase/transaction information (e.g., product purchased, purchase date, receipt validation data) in order to verify and activate your entitlement.
Apple or Google process your payment information directly; we never see or receive your payment details.
No financial data from within the app (your income, expenses, or categories) is ever shared with RevenueCat, Apple, or Google.

Once purchased, Prinance Pro is verified and cached on your device so it continues to work offline.
App-side promo codes
Promo codes distributed directly by us (for friends, testers, or press) are validated entirely on your device, with no network request at all. Redeeming one of these codes does not send any information anywhere, is not a real store purchase, and only unlocks Pro on the device where it was entered.
6. Insights (On-Device Model)
The Insights feature (available to Prinance Pro users) uses a small on-device sentence-embeddings machine-learning model to understand the names of your custom categories. The first time you use this feature, the app downloads the model file (approximately 236 MB) once from Hugging Face’s public file hosting. After that one-time download, the model runs entirely offline and is never contacted again.
This feature only ever processes your category labels (e.g., “Groceries,” “Rent”) — it never sees or processes your amounts, dates, receipt photos, or any other data. Nothing you type or any result it produces is sent anywhere; all processing happens locally on your device.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes, because we do not collect it in the first place. The only data that ever leaves your device is described in Sections 5 and 6 above (purchase verification with RevenueCat/Apple/Google, and the one-time model download from Hugging Face), and neither involves your financial data.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
All app data lives exclusively on your device for as long as the app is installed. You can delete individual entries at any time within the app. Uninstalling Prinance permanently deletes all app data stored on your device. Because we never receive a copy of this data, we have nothing to delete on our end.
9. Children’s Privacy
Prinance is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age — the app simply does not collect personal information at all.
10. Your Rights
Because Prinance does not collect, store, or process your personal or financial data on any server we control, there is generally no data for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf — that data already lives under your control, on your device. If you have questions about your rights under GDPR, CCPA, or another applicable privacy law, or about the limited data described in Sections 5–6, contact us using the details below.
11. International Users
Since your financial data never leaves your device, there is no international transfer of that data by us. Purchase-related data handled by RevenueCat, Apple, and Google may be processed in countries other than your own, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
12. Security
Your data benefits from your device’s own operating system security (app sandboxing, encryption at rest where enabled by your device) and, optionally, the App Lock feature described in Section 4. Because no financial data is transmitted or stored by us, there is no server-side database of your data that could be breached.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example if we add a new feature that changes how data is handled. We will update the “Effective date” above when we do. Continued use of Prinance after a change means you accept the updated policy.
